Portfolio Set-up Instructions

1.  Log into your Wordpress blog account at http://wordpress.com/
2.  Sign in using the ID and password you created for your blog.
3.  Click "My Site."  This will take you to your dashboard.
4.   Next you will create your pages.  Move your cursor to the toolbar on the left side of the dashboard page in the grey-shaded area.  About halfway down the menu under the section "publish," you will see a link called "pages." 
5.   Just to the right of "pages, "  you will see "add new.   
6.  The site will then navigate to the location where you create new pages.  When the page open, your cursor will blink inside of the textbox at the top of the page where you are to type the title for your page.
7.  Inside this text box,  type "Annotated Table of Contents."  Do not click save yet.  
8.  At the left side of the page, you will see a section labeled "Page Settings."  It is the 2nd item on the list.
9.  At the bottom of this section, you will see "Page Order."  You should currently see a zero inside of this box.  Change it to the number "1."
10.  Next, at the bottom-right side of this page, you will see a blue icon labeled "publish."  Click this.  After clicking, there should be a slight pause, and you should receive a confirmation at the top-center of your screen that this page was published. 
11.  At this point, you have successfully created the first page on your blog for the portfolio.  
12.  You will repeat this process (steps 3 - 13) and create the following pages, numbering them in the "order" box as they appear here:

  15.  At this point, you should have created a blank page for all of the pages that you will need on your blog for the portfolio.
16.  Next, you will need to ensure that your pages are visible to a visitor to your site. To do this, click "my site" in the upper-right corner of the page.  
17.  From here, simply click "view site" on the left side of the page near the top.
18.   When you click this link, you should see the "visitor's view of your page" (what someone sill see if they visit the web address that takes them to your blog).
19.  Make sure that you see a visible link on this page for each of the pages you created above in step 14.   NOTE:  This location will vary based upon the "theme" that you created when you first set up your blog.
20.  If you can see a link to each of the pages you created, you have completed the set up of your blog pages.  If you cannot see a link for each page, proceed to step 21.
21.  If you CANNOT see links to the pages you created, you will need to choose a new "theme" that will allow these page links to appear.
22.  To change the "theme" (the skin that determines the look and feel of your page), begin by clicking "my site."
23.  About halfway down the left side of the page,you will see a section labeled "personalize."  The first item under that section is "themes."  Click that. 
24.  A list of possible theme choices will appear. You will notice that some are free while other are not.  You will want to choose a free one.
25.  Locate the theme you would like to use.  You will notice a row of three dots at the bottom of the theme icon.  Click preview to see what your page will look like thisnew skin and verify that your page links will be visible using this new choice.  If they are, simply click "save and activate" in the upper-left corner.
26.  If your pages are not visible with this theme, simply click the "X" in the upper-left corner and repeat steps 22-25 until you locate a skin/theme that will show your page links to visitors.



HOW DO I ADD INFO TO A PAGE OR EDIT A PAGE?

1.  Log into your wordpress account.
2.  In the upper-left corner of your page, click "my site."
3.  About halfway down the left side of the page under "publish," you will see "pages."  When you click this you should see a list of all the pages that you created for your portfolio.
4.  To the right of each page on the list, you will see a row of three dots.  When you move your cursor over this page, you will see "edit."  Click that to edit or add content to your page.  Click view to make certain that the content that you added is viewable to me.
5.  Each time you add something to your page, always make certain that you click "update."
