ENG 1020 GROUP PROJECT:  GRADE YOUR FELLOW GROUP MEMBERS

Over the course of the last two and a half to three weeks, the members of your group have worked collaboratively to analyze a painting or professional photograph and to shape a written argument concerning your interpretation of this work.

Now that this project is reaching its conclusion, it is time for you to evaluate the  contributions of each member of your group.

To grade each member of your grouop, think about what each individual offered toward the completion of this assignment.

In a Microsoft Word document, list each of your group member's names:

Group Member #1:

Group Member #2:

Group Member #3:

Then compose a written explanation for each group member for each of the categories below:

PLANNING:  When we first began the Rhetorical Visual Analysis assignment, what did each group member contribute when the group attempted to locate an image/work to use for the project?  Did they offer examples and discuss which work was best and why?  Were they engaged in the conversation and encourage discussion among the group?

INVENTION:  What did each group member offer toward the completion of the invention work?  Did they offer their analysis and interpretation of the image?  Did they explain how they arrived at this intrepretation?   Were they engaged in the group conversation and encourage discussion about the image/work among the group?

DRAFTING:  When the group began to write the draft in Google Docs, what did each group member contribute to the process of writing the paper?  What percentage of the paper would you say they actually wrote?  How much time would you say they actually spent on writing/drafting as an individual?

EDITING:  What did each group member contribute to the process of editing and rewriting the group paper?  How much time did they spend on editing and rewriting the paper?

After you have composed your explaination of a group member's contributions, you will then score them based on what each person has contributed.

A =  This group member's performance was EXTRAORDINARY.  They always offered insightful comments and always went above and beyond what was required for the completion of this assignment.  They were always present at group meetings, always returned emails/Google comments/texts/phone calls and were instrument and spent the largest percentage of time in Google Docs working on the paper.

B =  This group member's performance was ABOVE AVERAGE.  They regularly offered complex ideas to the group discussion, but their arguments may not have been uniformly conlusive or convincing. They were present at the overwhelming majority of group meetings, almost always returned emails/Google comments/ texts/phone calls and spent a great deal of time in Google Docs working on the paper.

C = This group member's performance was AVERAGE.  They completed everything required of them by the group.  They regularly offered comments/ideas to group discussions, but their ideas may have been very broad or general and their examples were predictable or not throughly interpreted/developed.  They rarely missed a group member and regularly returned emails/Google comments/ texts/phone calls and spent a great deal of time in Google Docs working on the paper.

D=  This group member's performace was BELOW AVERAGE.  They did not compelete everything that was required of them by the group.  They offered comments on occasion, but these may have been  inconsistent, inappropriate, or simply too broad or vauge.  This group member may have missed more than one group meeting and sometimes did not return emails/Google comments/texts/phone calls and did not spend an adequate amout of time in Google Docs working on the paper.

F=  This group member's performance was SUBSTANTIALLY BELOW AVERAGE.  Their contributions to the project were inconsistent and at times they did not complete what was required of them by the group.  The comments they offered in group discussions were general, obvioius, or demonstrated little though.  This group member did not regularly attend meeting and did not adequately communicate with group members by email, Google comments, texts, or phone calls.  In addition, they failed to spend an adequate amount of time in Google Docs working on the paper.

After you have written an explanation of each group member's contributions for each of the categories (planning, invention, drafting, and editing).  Decide upon the letter grade earned (see above) and convert that to a numerical score:

10.8-12   A
9.6-10.7  B
8.4-9.5   C
7.2-8.3   D
0-7.1       F

YOUR EXPLANATION OF EACH GROUP MEMBER'S SCORE SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE SAME DOCUMENT AS YOUR INDIVIDUAL REFLECTION AND SUBMITTED TO ULEARN.

EXAMPLE:

Group Member 1:  Maria

Planning:  Maria's contribution to the group was average.  She did everything that was required of her, but she missed one meeting.  Despite this absence, though, she always communicated with the group.  She always contributed to discussions and spent a great deal of time in Google Docs, but her ideals were a little predictable and lacked complexity.

Her score is C :  9
